OLMSTED TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Southwest General recently expanded its reach with the opening of the Olmsted Medical Center.

“We’re really excited and thrilled to have it open,” Southwest General Medical Group Executive Director Heather Wagner said.

“On the radar for about two years, the project has been in the works being built for about 18 months. It’s nice to finally be seeing patients and having the community start to come through,” Wagner said.

The new 7,400-square-foot building, located at 27076 Bagley Road, offers a full range of outpatient and preventive services.

This includes screenings and immunizations, as well as care for injuries, illnesses and chronic conditions. There are also service offerings related to family medicine providers, therapy services and lab draw, with walk-in appointments available.

“There are a lot of younger families living in Olmsted Township,” Wagner said. “It’s part of our taxing jurisdiction here at Southwest, so we really wanted to be able to make our services from Southwest Hospital available to the community there.”

Currently, the facility boasts one physician and nurse practitioner, with Wagner noting that she’s in the process of hiring a second nurse practitioner to accommodate the community’s healthcare needs.

Also, beginning early next year, the facility will offer radiology services.

“Our physical therapy side is already busy seeing a lot of the kids, particularly being close to the middle school and high school,” Wagner said. “It’s a great opportunity for them to build a relationship with the sports medicine trainers at the schools.

“Really, the township seems to be happy that we now are in their market. It’s just a really nice and convenient place to come in and get bloodwork drawn.

“Also, there’s easy parking. We anticipate we’ll be really busy and the community is going to support that location.”

Olmsted Township Trustee Jeanene Kress is excited that the new medical facility is finally open.

“Olmsted Township continues to be a growing community, diverse in many ways -- young families to retirees, with various housing options, including apartments, manufactured homes and single-family dwellings,” Kress said.

“The location of Olmsted Medical Center in our town center area is convenient and easily accessible with ample parking in a beautiful building.”
