A house made from shipping containers is expected to sell for more than half a million dollars when it goes to auction.

The structure, built on a cliff face, is New Zealand’s first home made of shipping containers.

The structure includes a spiral staircase, outdoor spa, media room and balcony.

It was designed and built by former owner Ross Stevens between 2003 and 2010.

For the past six years, it has been used as an Airbnb.

But that could all change with the property up for auction on June 12.

It is expected to sell for at least AU$587,000 or NZ$630,000.

The property in Owhiro Bay, Wellington has already attracted lots of interest.
